Apopka is a city which is located in central Florida, spanning over parts of Orange County and Seminole County. Part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford metropolitan area, the population is approximately 48,400 and the city is best known for its robust indoor foliage industry. Apopka is located about 35 miles northwest of the Orlando International Airport, nearly 18 miles northwest of downtown Orlando, approximately 23 miles from Walt Disney World, 29 miles from SeaWorld Orlando, and 24 miles from Universal Orlando. It’s also home to Lake Apopka, the third largest freshwater lake in the state of Florida.

The city of Apopka is charming and off the beaten path. It’s small town look and feel make it a wonderful place to call home. Incorporated in 1882, the city’s most historic site is its Masonic Lodge, which residents refer to simply as, “The Lodge.” In the year 1912, the fern industry was introduced to the city of Apopka and it earned the nickname “Fern City” soon after. Today, there is a wide variety of tropical plants and other agricultural products grown in the town.
